My name is Lydia, and I am a current student at Yale Divinity School, where I am pursuing a Master of Divinity ('28). I am affiliated with the Yale Institute of Sacred Music and Berkeley Divinity School, the Episcopal seminary at Yale.
Prior to Yale, I studied at the University of Cambridge (Magdalene College), where I was awarded an MPhil in Music. My dissertation, which I completed under the supervision of Prof Jeremy Begbie, explored the relationship between music and infinite longing (Sehnsucht) within and beyond German Romanticism. Â
In May 2024, I earned B.A. degrees in Music and English from Iowa State University. I am a pianist and clarinetist, a classic literature enthusiast, a rower, an avid jazz musician, and a lover of questions. I am also a sixth-generation agriculturist, and I grew up on my family's pig farm in rural Iowa.
